Frequently asked questions
Is this typing test like the one employers use?
It follows the common format: a timed passage (often 5 minutes), scored as net words per minute, where each uncorrected error lowers your score. Employers use different testing vendors, so ask the recruiter which length and scoring your test uses.
What is net WPM?
Gross WPM is everything you typed divided by five characters per word, per minute. Net WPM subtracts one word per minute for each uncorrected error. It's the number most hiring tests report.
Is it free?
1-minute tests on one passage for each job type, the 1-minute 10-key test, the first three form-drill records and the speed guide are free. The Typing Test Prep Pack (function(){throw Error("Attempted to call JOBPREP_PRICE() from the server but JOBPREP_PRICE is on the client. It's not possible to invoke a client function from the server, it can only be rendered as a Component or passed to props of a Client Component.")} one-time) unlocks every timed test, the full 10-key trainer, a 7-day plan and the RiteType Certified certificate. RiteType Pro includes it.
Can I put the certificate on my résumé?
Yes. Each certificate has a short ID and a verify link. Anyone with the link can confirm the name, score and date match our records.
