Frequently asked questions

What is on a data entry typing test?

Usually some mix of a timed typing passage (scored in WPM), alphanumeric entry such as names, account numbers and addresses, and a 10-key numeric test scored in keystrokes per hour (KPH). Accuracy matters as much as speed.

What is KPH?

Keystrokes per hour. It counts every correct keystroke over time, scaled to an hour. Data-entry and 10-key requirements are often stated in KPH.

What KPH do employers ask for?

It depends on the employer. Our speed guide lists real postings with links, so you can see actual figures rather than estimates.
