How to play Type Racer

• Type the passage below the track. Your car's speed is your live WPM.
• A wrong key doesn't move you forward; fix it and keep going.
• Beat the three rival cars to the finish line for the gold.

Controls

• Enter starts, Esc pauses, 1 2 3 pick Easy, Normal or Hard
• 🔊 mutes sounds (saved for next time), 🎵 turns on background music
• ⌨️ shows the keyboard and hands helper with the finger for the next key

Race with your real typing speed

In Type Racer your car is powered by your words per minute. Type the passage and your car speeds up; slow down or make mistakes and the rivals pull ahead. Three AI cars race alongside you, and they get faster on Normal and Hard, so there's always someone to chase.

Each race is a full passage with capitals and punctuation, which makes it great practice for real-world typing such as emails and school work. When you cross the line you'll see your finishing place, WPM and accuracy on the podium. Try to beat your own best time, then move up a difficulty. If the rivals feel too fast, focus on accuracy first: clean typing keeps your car at full speed.
